ADHD ASSESSMENT
IN FITZROY NORTH

ADHD ASSESSMENT INCLUDES:

  • 3 x 1-hour clinical consultations with a psychologist – can change depending on presenting concerns

  • Administration of ADHD validated measures – one of which is a clinical interview

  • Testing and screening of common co-occurring disorders that can influence attentional symptoms

  • Full developmental, mental health and medical history (school reports or past medical reports are useful)

  • Interviews with a caregiver to provide developmental information of the person’s symptoms

  • Comprehensive Assessment Report that includes developmental history, interpretation of test results and a case formulation, or discussion of the interplay of the presenting factors, discussion of strengths, and recommendations for future support. After the testing has been completed, the report is usually ready within two weeks, and will be provided in a feedback session with the psychologist.

ADHD ASSESSMENT

FEES

This includes up to three consultations, assessment, report and feedback session. Half the fee is payable before your first session, and the balance is due before the report is produced. There are no Medicare rebates available for this ADHD assessment.

NEXT STEPS

Treatment for ADHD most commonly involves a combination of medication and behavioural strategies. Medication

can help you improve your capacity to sustain attention in order to learn new behavioural strategies.

An ADHD assessment by a psychologist can provide clarity and confidence in relation to suspected ADHD. Many

people find that a psychologist assessment is sufficient for their needs. However, if you receive a diagnosis from

our psychologist and want to seek medication or additional funding, you will require a further assessment by a

psychiatrist/pediatrician.

Our psychologist cannot prescribe medication. Our psychologist’s assessment can be

helpful for the psychiatrist/pediatrician when they conduct their own assessment. You should discuss with your GP

about a referral to a psychiatrist/pediatrician, if desired.
